Feasibility Studies for Electrification of Vehicles
Transport Services Overview | Due Diligence & Feasibility Studies |
Due Diligence required for financing
GPEKS offers various services to assist evaluate and analize the economic and technical feasibility of vehicle electrification projects. We also provide services to companies that want to enter in this new field. This includes services to either industrial companies that want to propose new vehicle or rail infrastructure technologies. We serve commercial fleet operators such as taxi fleets, bus fleets, municipal fleets, sanitation fleets (i.e. refuse trucks), companies that operate local delivery fleets or vehicles, etc.
Technological analysis
- Various alternative options for:
- Light duty vehicles,
- Pickup trucks and vans
- Transit or coach or school buses
- Utility vehicles (i.e. refuse trucks, yard vehicles...)
- What vehicles in a fleet represent the most advantageous to convert to electric vehicles based on routes and usage patterns
- Technical electric infrastructure upgrade requirements and cost
Economic analysis
- Cost of technically viable alternative electric vehicles options
- Detailed analysis of potential fuel and maintenance savings
- Evaluation of future battery replacement costs
- Assessment of end of life residual value of electric vehicle option versus conventional vehicle
- Economic impact of leasing versus other financing options
- Research of various financial incentives available
Regulatory Analysis
- What are the non-financial incentives such as for example access to bus/taxi car pool lanes…
- Impact of GHG regulations
- Local compliance regulations (non-idling laws..)
- Provincial and Federal (i.e. Transport Canada) other compliance regulations applicable for new vehicles or electric conversions
- What new measures may support the adoption of electric vehicles?
Environmental Analysis
- Quantification of possible reductions in GHG thanks to the electric vehicle conversions
- Possible reduction in other pollutants (NOX and SOX…)
- Value of other environmental benefits (noise, health)
Organizational Analysis
- Acceptability of new vehicle by user
- Question of new vehicle maintenance: who will maintain the new EVs, strategies to handle the maintenance
- Options for how the financing can be structured: evaluation of various models (i.e. Model where EV batteries only are Leased and rest of vehicle is financed with traditional loan or from equity)
- Is there enough support from within the organization (question of availability of qualified personnel to handle project, appropriate facilities (i.e. Workshop, recharging infrastructure) or champions (i.e. does the project fit within the corporate culture/goals, level support from management/boar of directors/municipal council…)
Risk Analysis
- Qualitative analysis of key technical, technological, regulatory, economic and other risks
- Quantitative analysis of risks
- Sensitivity analysis based on critical input variables such as fuel cost, distance driven, scenarios of vehicle alternatives
Recommendations
- Our reports provide a summary of best opportunities alternatives, cost, savings, and measure that would need to be taken to implement electrification projects
