We specialize in the following services:
Project Financing
GPEKS has the ability to offer 100% of the financing required for Solar PV projects in Ontario. We also assist organizations that require financing by applying for funding on their behalf.
Roof Income Program
In Ontario, working with our partners, we offer roof owners the opportunity to make money from their roof and generate typically between $40 to $120/m2 from the roof area utilized for the solar system over a 20 year period, or 5 to 10% of the revenues we can obtain from OPA contracts. The actual amount offered depends on the characteristics of the roof (structural ability to accommodate the PV array, shape of roof, obstacles, shading, accessibility of roof, ease of grid connection and power capacity available for that area...)
Project Development
We provide technical management services of sustainable energy projects: feasibility studies, technical analysis, design, applying for permits, Power/Energy Purchase Agreements (PPA/EPA) contract reviews, project planning, sourcing and allocation of qualified human resources, project management, project monitoring, quality control and follow up. We facilitate the Clean Energy Utility business model of financing, installing and maintaining institutional solar thermal projects — a model which is based on charging an energy fee for a defined duration, at prices and terms that are cost competitive and sustainable.
We also provide support services to clients who want to use the Build Own Operate and Transfer schemes for distributed energy systems and assist in accessing to net metering and feed-in tariffs.
Project Due Diligence
We have the expertise to perform the due diligence required by investors and financial institutions in order to finance Green Energy projects. We also assist Green Energy buyers' groups and cooperative initiatives to access more favourable energy loans.
Joint Venture with Proener (merged with Avantrade)*
Under this agreement, GPEKS services are retained to provide:
- Detailed Feasibility study
- Negotiations with the site owners for securing the site
- Managing procurements with local subcontractors
- Applying with the regulatory authorities for various permits (Municipality, OPA)
- Debt financing
Proener will be in charge of:
- Engineering: basic and precision
- Construction Management
- Managing Equipment procurement (panels, inverters, support structures...)
- Managing the project operation once connected
- Equity financing
Education
Curriculum development, seminars, workshops and conferences on sustainable energies, renewable energies and energy efficiency. Technical and financing solutions. Seminars address the needs of both end users and companies implementing sustainable energy solutions. We educate potential end users of sustainable energies such as residential owners, commercial, industrial, agricultural or institutional organizations interested in getting control over their energy costs using sustainable energy options. We also educate the various actors involved in the field of renewable energies such as manufacturers, installers, and other organizations active in the field.
GPEKS has been the world pioneer in delivering since January 2005 a series of Clean Energy Project Feasibility Analysis certificate courses via an e-learning format. Building and expanding upon the curriculum initially developed by Natural Resources Canada's RETScreen® division, the Clean Energy Institute of GPEKS delivers these feasibility analysis courses in various renewable energy and Energy Efficiency technologies: solar photovoltaics (PV), concentrating solar power CSP), solar water heating for both domestic hot water and space heating, solar air heating, solar air conditioning or climatisation, passive solar heating, small hydro, wind energy, geothermal heat pump, bioenergy and biomass heating, cogeneration (Combined Heat and Power or CHP) and trigeneration (CHP plus Cooling) . Since then, our Clean Energy Institute has delivered in total more hours of training in clean energy project feasibility analysis certificate courses than all of the other education providers combined.
GPEKS' educational role ensures that it keeps abreast of the latest developments in technology and all the relevant processes and practices that ensure successful planning and implementation of leading edge sustainable energy projects.
